Assignment 1 Empty Assignment 1

Post  Victoria C Wed Nov 14, 2012 7:51 pm

Becoming an adult requires you to face the reality that no one is looking out for you anymore, or really is concerned about your interests, and you have to take the initiative to formulate what you want to do with your life. It requires you to face the troubles of and stresses of growing up, and you are no longer as carefree as you were when you were a kid. Children are innocent because they are ignorant to the real world and are so dependent on their parents or whoever to let them know everything's going to be all right, nothing is wrong because "mommy and daddy" will take care of everything and won't let anything bad happen. The transition toward adulthood pushes an individual to realize that one day their parents won't always be there for them. The sugarcoated layer that's been placed on them all throughout childhood will eventually disintegrate until real, raw reality is staring them in the face.

"Becoming an adult requires you to face the reality that no one is looking out for you anymore" Your quote reminds me of the bus-ride fade-to-credits scene from The Graduate. The realization of this fact swept over them like a tidal wave.

I agree with Victoria when you become an adult people will treat you differently and people aren't as lenient to the mistakes that you make anymore. You are expected to know what to do if someone gives you instructions.
