I was just thinking about how when he gets his boots taken away and is left behind he goes tromping through the forest in his replacement boots and he stomps in the middle of a birds nest may be that was a deeper meaning of him being angry of being treated as a child so he brought his anger on something smaller than him and didn't care.

Yes just like wen little kids handle animals. When they handle them. They can hurt them thats why adults have to watch the kids cause they don't know or really care.
